The Hangar

The Hangar is a casual cafe in a cosy shophouse at Arab Street, opened by a passionate coffee enthusiast from Australia. Besides serving up Sexy Coffee, they are also greatly involved in the art scene, with gigs happening on various weekday nights.

Interior & Ambience

It has a bold branding, pretty much in the  indie way, and distinct from the other cafes in the area.

Its raw and scrappy interior and furniture gave it the edginess it attempts to create.

The ambience is extremely casual, and the staff are friendly and personable.

On a hot day, especially these days, the AC are slightly too weak and it can get slightly uncomfortable.

Food & Drinks

Coffee here is good, I must say. The coffee machine is apparently an antique, but provides a high consistency and customizability for the barista. The resulting taste verifies that.

I though the menu was pretty legit, with the regular suspects like big breakfast, toasties, and waffles all present.

Decided to go for something light, picked off a few of my favourite indulgence like sausage, eggs and mushrooms to make my own ala carte dish.

Unfortunately it wasn’t really up to mark. The scrambled eggs was hardly one at all and the sausage was slightly uncooked. I don’t doubt the cafe’s genuineness but there’s definitely more to work on for their food.

In Short

I like The Hangar for its laid-back environment, where you can drop your guards and break into conversations easily with anyone. The coffee is great, and the cafe has great potential to become the next contending coffee brand.
